Why Is It We Regain Weight On A Weight Loss Journey And How To Deal With It

Most individuals are currently in the middle of their weight loss on a journey to the body they have always wanted, maintaining weight loss.  However, sometimes it's hard and looking at the fact that they still have 25 more to lose after losing 30. So, they thought deeply - "how did I let it get this bad" looking through photos from a few months ago.

I understand, you do want to be positive but this is just one of those days. You know you are on the way but it sometimes feels too far you know? Especially for those of us who have been fat for a long, and that can setting on the reality of your bad eating habits.

Why the sudden change?

Yep. It is hard to live with that, especially when you thought you are making process but you aren't really. Some of us cry when it also attached to certain medical conditions like hypothyroidism, didn't help (and Hashimotos).

You realize that you are close to reaching you first milestone, which is great, but literally still be at the same weight you were when you decided you were too fat and needed to lose weight. You can't believe you gained all that weight you lost back PLUS even more POUNDS.

The truth is , there are many factors that can contribute to this sudden weight gain. Like I explained earlier, underlying medical condition is one factor. But one important factor I did like to point out is the fact that "most individuals who are born overweight or obese have an automatic body programmed that way". So, it is much more easy to go back to previous weight. I know, even though part of you would wants blame yourself, parents, community, genetics etc because of being obese since kid.  But it’s your responsibility now. It is sad, but it's something you shouldn't over think about because you know you are changing that. However, don't be so mad at yourself for getting to that place in the first place.. work towards making it better.

Weight loss takes so long. Because you aren't seeing any weight loss doesn't actually mean you are not losing weight. What might help is you can either look at the scale and be a pound/a few pounds lighter and be proud. Make that adjustment, maintaining this weight for the last month. I totally understand the pressure. It’s daunting to know, for example you still have over 20lbs to lose when you just lost just over 20lbs in the past year. But, you need to make that decision and say to yourself - “I’m never gonna be this big again".

Sometimes you just look at graphs of around what date you have to reach your goal and it is soo frustrating. It's like falling out of love and realizing the overly stupid stuff you did. But what's even crazy is that that won't even remotely stop you from doing it again later. The truth is, keeping weight off is a hard thought battle. Yup. You get mad at yourself all the time and then cycle starts all over again. It is even crazier how you can get mad at yourself in the morning then binge in the evening.

You're not alone. Most overweight or obese individuals feel so sick and tired of carrying the extra around and being asked about it everytime. For me, I did recommend working with a therapist to figure out why you keep sabotaging yourself and don't continue the weight loss once you hit certain scale number. You might have a lot of emotions to deal with and instead choosing to numb yourself with food instead of feeling the feelings.

Many times, bad habits like drinking, smoking and much more can influence your weight. You should quit these habits, you don't really want to add more weight gain. Moreover, these habits can cause severe medical conditions.
