However, make sure you keep watching ALL your macros because alas, while alcohol may be low carb, it isn't particularly low calorie. I was pretty shocked when I started researching that.
For reference pure alcohol contains about 7 calories per gram. My go-to then was Mich Ultra Gold and each one of those little buggers are 85 calories (but only 2.5 carbs). 90 proof Vodka is 110 calories per shot. Whisky is 105 calories per shot.
Not that any of that need to stops you, mind you. You just need to stay aware that booze isn't a freebie.
You need to agreed, booze is always some people caloric downfall. Going for drinks like the Mich's, but option in on a fun saturday afternoon. Luckily I don't feel hungry when I drink and can go to bed without eating but that just wrecks me for the next day. Then I look back on why I haven't lost weight and I see 10 Michs for 900 calories and say oh. However, Gin is relatively low cal and reportedly it can increase your metabolic rate; scientists speculate that herbal botanicals used in the distillation process infuse the liquor with antioxidants..
Like I said before, make sure you keep watching ALL your macros alcohol isn't particularly low calorie as people say. You could try some drinks that are keto-friendly. Truly Lemonade + vodka on ice can be a substitute as a light beer. Also pure liquors are zero carb just make sure your mixer is keto friendly.
I understand why most people avoid beers when counting calories. They had beer make them probably start shame spiral. They found it was what they ate when I started drinking. i highly suggest trying a sugar-free ginger ale and gin (or bourbon/whiskey) mixed drink, in moderation.
Michelob ultra seltzer’s are 0 carb.
Try hard seltzer!!! Really recommended.
