Bodybuilding takes time and dedication. It is also a step by step process. And I agree, every exercise/ lift uses abdominals. Almost everything works abs in one way or the other..
One alternative way for flat stomach without doing abs is diet and cutting sugar for sure. You can add doing lots of cardio and a calorie deficit. Also, focus on vegetables and protein and drink lots and lots of water.
However, if you despise cardio and don't do much ab work, diet and compound lifts is the best option, but always keep a tight core when lifting. Most people have six packs and don't work their abs directly. I found that what work for them is HIIT or circuit training. It is best to do workouts that work out the entire body, especially for cardio.
Other alternative way is "Eating right". It’s true eat right, change your eating habits, eat fruits and vegetables, chicken breast no sugar, no spices, no salt, cooked your chicken breast and vegetables only with water and steam with rice strainer, drink lots of water during the day and you'll see.
