Being in that age group and can't really say if you have ever know where to begin or how to keep motivated. Also if there is any special diet out there you are yet to know of Many people ask questions because they are stuck and their progress has stall...

Intermittent fasting (IF) and Keto based in BMR has been the key not only to achieve their goals, but to maintain it for good. Getting into ketosis and becoming Keto adapted are two different things. Based on my own experience, clients experience and research - Ketosis happens around 12 to 16 hrs regardless of age. No human can store glucose much longer than that. Once you run out if glucose, ketosis is in full mode. Getting Keto adapted takes 4 to 6 weeks, and it is where 70% of energy cones from ketosis.

However, sugar addiction is strong and diabetes is a very serious issues. If you are in Keto, there is a need to get all the crappy junk foods out of the house. Drop carbs to zero until you get into ketosis then keep it low carb to remain in ketosis. I can't really say how long it takes, but I don't think it will take very long. Once you really start eating Keto and doing Intermittent Fasting (IF), probably no more than a week but I actually think it is less than that - just keep going. For some it took them just a few days. Exercise makes it quicker and drinking a lot of water. Exercising helps speed up the process. However if you can't exercise hard or long enough to deplete your glucose stores quickly, you can do a 24-36 hours water fast (unsweetened coffee and tea allowed). Water fasting is the should cut, if you can handle it.

What's The Easiest Way To Know If You Are In Ketosis?

Fast for two days. BOOM!!! Until you really go into Intermittent Fasting (IF), it will be difficult. You should do the one-meal-aday  (OMAD) and try to eat between 3 and 4. You need to be discipline, determine and patience. It may take a few weeks to be completely in ketosis. Don't give up, it's worth the wait. With time, you will be able to consistently do Keto/IF. Stay focus and keep everything simple.

Don't be in a rush. It will happen. It doesn't matter the age group. Just use a tracker and log everything. You will learn so much in first month or two on weighing everything. You cab create recipes and meals to add to your tracker. You will want to get the Keto-Mojo to weigh in only once a week. Do only one Intermittent Fasting (IF) for 18 hours per week. You could also do BP coffee daily one hour after you wake up - first hour is for water only.

Here are the macros you ease into over 2 weeks or so:-

5% carbs,

25% proteins,

70% fats.

You find your maintenance calories for your heigh and weight and then adjust down 5% for age and sex. Plug that into your tracker for the first week. Then reduce it by 10% for week 2. Then 15% for weeks beyond. Don't worry as much about calories as you do macros. Take your supplements and drink plenty of water and electrolytes. You will be humming along as long as you are consistent. I would eat 1300 calories a day, or often go over a bit but never below. Don't starve yourself.

In conclusion, high cortisol level can also prevent you from losing weight. Your adrenals might also be kicking in to make you gain weight. Stop watching the news. Get off your computer/phone. Get away from stressful people and situations. You need to learn relaxation techniques and get off all caffeine. Take naps, go for a slow walk, deep breath and warm bath.
