 There are various risk factors for developing an eating disorder. However, most people just into that eating pattern naturally without noticing. Eating disorder can really be about food. It's an unhealthy way of eating and sometimes this can be life threatening.

Eating disorders are problems with the way people eat - overeat, restricting and feel out of control to stop. Common type of eating disorder are anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder).

People with anorexia are very strict about what and his much they eat. They think about food or calories almost all the time. They may see themselves as overweight even when they are dangerously underweight. A person suffering from anorexia don't listen to compliment from friends and family base on their body appearance. They tend to give numerous excuse for why they need to lose more weight. Anorexia isn't really about food. Someone with anorexia somehow use this way to try to cope with emotional problems. They often equate thinness with self-worth.

On the other hand, people with Purging disorder do things to make up for overeating, like make themselves throw up on purpose after they overeat. To prevent weight gain, they may use laxatives, diuretics, fasting and extreme exercising.

While Binge eats large amounts even when they are not hungry. They may eat only so others don't see how much they are eating. They eat faster than normal.

People with ARFID are not interested in food or avoid foods. They lose weight, or don't gain expected amount of weight. They are not afraid of gaining weight. They don't have a poor body image. People with ARFID don't eat because they are turned off by smell, taste, texture, or colour of food. They maybe afraid that they will choke or vomit. They don't have anorexia, bulimia or another medical problems...
