Numerous medical studies have demonstrated that Omega-3 have amazing health benefits and should be incorporated in everyone diet. Omega-3 are polyunsaturated fats, contains proper percentage of protein and carbohydrates. They are known to protect us from atherosclerosis, heart and cerebral attack - protecting our vessels and whole body in general.

Carbohydrate, protein, fat and oil are known as primary food substances because they are necessary for the maintenance of life. The first three, together with nucleic acids are the basic chemical building blocks of an organism. However, carbohydrates and proteins can be easily broken down into smaller particles than fat & oil.

There are different types of carbohydrates. Some example are sugar, starch and cellulose. Both complex sugar and starch can be broken down into simple sugar by the action of acids or enzymes. This process is know as hydrolysis. Protein on the other hand, contain nitrogen in addition to carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They are the main bodybuilding substances necessary for building new cells and replacing old ones. Meat (flesh), milk and eggs are rich in protein. Like carbohydrate, protein can be broken down into smaller units called amino acids. Studies have shown that proteins are digested to amino acids before they can be absorbed in the body.

The breakdown of protein takes place in steps as shown :-

Proteins ------->Protease ------> Polypeptides -------> Amino acids.

Carbohydrates and proteins are made up a of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen needed to breakdown substances. However, fat and oil contains high proportion of carbon and hydrogen but very little oxygen. Fat and oil are macromolecules. Before they can be absorbed into the body, they must be broken down into fatty acids (carboxylic acids) and glycerol, which is now very difficult with little oxygen provided. Which is why most fats and oil you take are stored up in different areas like tummy, buttock, breast and lap.

There are healthy cholesterol and also unhealthy cholesterol, so has we also have bad fats and good fats. Fats are found in margarine, butter, cheese, fatty meat, groundnuts, castor oil seeds and many other foods.

Nowadays, we eat the wrong type of foods, we settle for fatty food, foods that lack specific nutrient in them. Some people eat much fatty foods because they are cheap and they  become overweight and unhealthy. Their life spans too becomes shortened. Many people do not eat enough protein food. Generally, they say protein- rich foods are expensive.

A diet must have a mixture of protein and essential amino-acids. Men especially need more food with fats and oil than women as they produce more heat compare to women of the same size. This is because they have less fatty tissues in their bodies and therefore are less able to prevent heat loss. 

In cold countries, fat layers under the skin act as insulators and prevent loss of heat from their bodies. Most fatty foods are stored up in the body. Some people, particularly women, experience high cholesterol. About several amount of the fats and oil are not digested, leading to heartburn, heart attacks, indigestion, nausea and stroke. In one study, women were more than twice as likely as men to store up more fats in their body. This is because blockages caused by fatty deposits in an artery can reduce or cut off the blood supply to the heart, causing what feels like tightness, squeezing or pain (mostly typically in the chest but sometimes in the abdomen instead), which is why fat soluble foods are recommended. Foods like fish, liver oil substances, egg yolk, milk, walnut and fresh leafy green vegetables. They represent a rich and delicious source of Omega-3 fats plus other important ammo acids, helping the body to get rid of all those nasty fats that usually deposits on the walls of our arteries and cause later in life blockage. 

There have been plenty of studies related to the important of eating food substances which contains Omega-3 fats. What one must understand is that high cholesterol is one of the major risk factors observed in people who eat meals with high fat content. Foods containing Omega-3 can be easily incorporated into any meal. The most important thing you have to keep in mind is that by providing the body with Omega-3 fats, it helps your nervous function to a maximum capacity providing the energy they need and ensuring that every neural process goes exactly the way it should.

Unfortunately, various studies have shown that a low level of Omega-3 fats has been linked in children with attention disorders, hyperactivity and even behavior changes. Also, other further studies have proven that diet with a low intake of Omega-3 fats can lead to insomnia and other serious health problems. 

Apart from being incredibly delicious, Omega-3 can even prevent gallstones from forming. Foods containing Omega-3 fats can even prevent serious diseases especially cardiovascular and neurodegenerative. The antiinflammatory effect is useful in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory skin diseases. A research concluded that consumption of at least four times a week reduced the risk of coronary heart disease by 37%.

Together with carbohydrate, protein and fat and oil, the breakdown of these substances into smaller unit are essential in our diet. To reduce the body being overload, the fats and oil content of our diet should be minimal, just sufficient for the body needs. The carbohydrate and protein content should be just enough to supply the body the energy requirements (without causing a breakdown of the body  the needed energy).

Abnormal fats intakes should be restricted and salt should not be added to the food, as salt also do not completely dissolved in the body.
