For some year now, cases of heart disease both in children and adults in the world have been on the rise. Health experts warn that with over 39% of world population suffers from hypertension, cardiovascular disease, which may become major health problem in the near future. Coronary artery disease, which is the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries is the most common type of heart disease. Some people are born with heart abnormalities, while the majority of other cases, however, can be attributed to numerous factors like lifestyle, work and most especially - DIET.

Experts warn that a high fat and salt-filled diet,  a sedentary lifestyle can cause obesity, raise cholesterol levels and causes narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries.

In the past, heart disease, particularly the non-congenital type, was considered as something that happens to the over 65s. New evidence, however, shows that more young people are being affected yearly. For instance,  The American Heart Association states that 150,000 Americans killed by cardiovascular disease each year are under the age of 65. And one out of every 20 people below the age of 40 has heart disease.

The good news, though,  is that heart disease and other related illnesses can be prevented. Certain lifestyle and dietary habits can go a long way in preventing heart problems. What you eat contributes a lot to being prone to heart disease. Too much of fat, salt and highly junk foods are not ideal, especially for those with high blood pressure, which is one of the risk factors in heart disease.

Also important is regular exercising. It should be the aerobic type like running, brisk walking or anything that makes you sweat and increase the heartbeat rate. This will improve blood circulation.
