I see always all the rubbish peddled by desperate salesmen and women who make ridiculous promises which appeal to the most vulnerable members seeking an overnight solution for magic weight-loss. I also notice post which appeal to all the silver bullet peddlers wanting to lose huge amounts of weight overnight with no exercise.
Below are top most weight-loss myths and beliefs you probably have heard of and some i think you should avoid.
Myth 1: Fasting Helps You Lose Weight
Fasting won't necessarily help you lose weight. In fact, excessive fasting can cause serious health issues such as malnutrition, dehydration, starvation, anorexia, unconsciousness and short breathing. A good diet and exercise routine can help instead of fasting.
Myth 2: Not Every Calories Are The Same
You might have heard people saying "It is either good cholesterol or bad cholesterol". Well, don't bank on that or use this as an excuse to eat excessively. Too much calories and fats in your diet is very dangerous. Healthy diet is a must.
Myth 3: It's What You Eat, Not How Much
What the above statement eventually leads to is emotional/comfort eating. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, "no one ever regretted eating too much after a meal". Overeating makes you tired and sluggish. When you eat, your body has to break down and digest the food in your stomach. This requires four to five hours. Some people eat large amounts even when they are not hungry. They eat faster than normal so other don't see how much they've eating. This leads to upset stomach, heartburn (especially in the evening) and constipation.
Myth 4: If You Eat After 6pm It Makes You Fat.
This is no evidence to proven this statement. It is not true. Metabolic rate is what determine your weight. The best approach is to eat your last meal fully 3 hours before you go to sleep. Instead of skipping meals, eat your evening meal within your calories allowance closer to bedtime. Split your food into smaller meals throughout the day.
Myth 5: The Straight Up Bs Like "Target Your Belly Fat With These 3 Moves" Or "Here's A Routine For Your Lower Abs!!!
There is no such thing as spot reduce fat. It's best to do full body workout to target your whole body so it can start working together and speeding up your metabolism and burning fat all over.
Myth 6: You Can Eat Processed/Sugar Filled Things. They Have The Same Amount Of Calories As Nutritious Foods.
The science I have read shows the body handles sugar like a toxin. The fact is that you require no additional sugar to enjoy superb levels of physical health.
Myth 7: Green Tea Will Do Some Wonder And Will Help In Losing All The Weight
This is not true. Drinking green tea always won't aid weight-loss; proper diet plan is what you need. A wide variety of fruits, vegetables and drinking lot of water, about eight glasses per day can help.
Myth 8: Keto Is The Best
Nope, there is nothing like "the best diet". It all depends on the individual. Some scientifically proven facts for all of you:- a long-term Keto diet can cause anemia and metabolic acidosis. I do not believe a Keto diet is that safe.
Myth 9: All My Bodyfats Burned Off Of My Body With This Supplement.
Note, there is no magic supplement anywhere, just proper diet and regular exercises. Without a healthy diet and exercise routine, no supplement will work on you. These exercises doesn't mean extreme or crazy one's. You can achieve weight loss with cycling, jogging, running, swimming and using light weights equipments.
Myth 10: No Diet, No Workout. Lose 20kg In 20 Days.
Not possible. You can never lose weight without proper diet and regular exercises. It is not impossible to lose 20kg in a one month period, but that will involve excessive training and supplementing.
Myth 11: You Can't Eat Carbs. Carbs Makes You Fat!!!
Not 100% true. Your body also need carbs but not too much of it.
Myth 12: To Lose Weight You Should Stop Eating
This is a bad advise. Restricting yourself from eating to lose weight is a dangerous approach. This approach may leads to a potentially life threaten disorder known as Anorexia.
Myth 13: Eat Less, Exercise More: Exercise Is 90% Of Weight Loss
There is a believe that to lose weight you need to be on a strict diet and change the way you eat entirely. Most people eben suggest intermittent fasting and fasted cardio. Weight-loss is an all-round process, you just need to find ways to balance.
Myth 14: "Say Yes And I Send You Secret To Lose Weight".
Don't be deceived. One of the best things you can do to burn body fats and maintain weight is to eat healthy diet and exercise regularly. There's no secret anywhere, however, proper diet and amino-acid supplements can help not only to control weight, but also help you lose weight.
Note carefully, that there's no magic portion anywhere. Try and focus more on eating health foods and avoid having too much alcoholic, sugary drinks or other similar foods. That is the best way to go.
